New data from CyberSeek reveals that the cybersecurity industry is missing an estimated 225,200 security professionals in order to close the talent gap. Currently, only 85% of the economy’s available cybersecurity jobs are filled, with more than 1.2 million workers employed.

The data from CyberSeek also uncovered that cybersecurity jobs were influenced by the pullback in tech hiring during 2023. Job postings for tech occupations decreased by 37% from May 2023 to April 2024. Furthermore, cyber job postings declined by 29%, suggesting that the cybersecurity industry is somewhat less impacted by hiring pullbacks when compared to the overall IT sector.
