Yonhap news agency quotes Jong-Ho Lee, the Minister of Science and ICT of the Republic of Korea, as saying, “Problems such as deepfakes pose risks to our society. We plan to open an AI security institute this year, and there is a need to accelerate this process.”

At the AI Summit Seoul on May 21st, a declaration was adopted, which, in particular, welcomed the plans of the participating countries to open national institutes, other departments or organisations on AI security issues. The participating countries agreed that such institutions will jointly study various aspects of the AI work and share experiences.

Representatives of Australia, the United Kingdom, the European Union, Italy, Canada, the Republic of Korea, Singapore, the United States, France, Germany and Japan took part in the forum.
