(KRON) — The man who fought San Jose Mayor Matt Mahan’s security detail Tuesday has been identified. The altercation was caught on video as Mahan was in the middle of a KRON4 interview.

The suspect was identified as 35-year-old Wesley Pollard of an unknown residence, according to the San Jose Police Department. He remains in custody at Elmwood Correctional Facility in Milpitas with a bail of $26,000.

Pollard was booked for resisting an arrest with violence and for battery of an officer, SJPD said. It was later discovered that Pollard had a warrant for his arrest from Georgia for resisting arrest with violence.

Pollard is scheduled to appear in court this Friday at noon.

While Mahan was speaking during a KRON4 interview, Pollard walked and approached Mahan’s right shoulder. Pollard approached Mahan’s security detail who asked Pollard to step back and allow Mahan to continue the interview, police said.

Pollard refused and confronted the mayor’s security detail. Pollard is then seen landing at least one punch to the security detail’s head. SJPD says the security detail tried many times to de-escalate the situation without using force. After a minutes-long struggle, Pollard was eventually put in handcuffs.
