ATLANTA, Ga. (Atlanta News First) – The Sawnee Electric Membership Corporation (EMC) said their company website was compromised in a “cybersecurity incident.”

The electric utility company told customers in an email Monday that they “recently discovered a cybersecurity incident impacting our website.” They’re advising all customers to avoid the website “for any purposes at this time,” and to instead use the new site

Sawnee EMC told customers to not attempt to log into the old website, and to not click on any link there.

They also said to email their 24-hour customer call center by using [email protected].

The company said a “comprehensive investigation is ongoing” into the cybersecurity incident, and they’ll update customers when more information is available.

Sawnee EMC serves parts of seven counties in north Georgia, including Fulton, Cherokee, Gwinnett, Forsyth, Hall, Dawson and Lumpkin.
