Major Mahmoud Al-Maghaira, head of the Cybercrime Unit in the Criminal Investigation Department, urged social media users in Jordan to refrain from sharing videos or information about recent security raids conducted by security forces in Amman.

Speaking to Public Security Radio on Tuesday, Al-Maghaira explained that sharing such information can endanger security personnel during operations.

He stressed that disseminating this content could result in legal action by the Public Prosecutor.

Al-Maghaira noted that filming, live streaming, and gathering near security operations put both raid teams and civilians at risk, jeopardizing the success of operations and leading to legal consequences for those involved.

The Cybercrime Unit monitors and tracks individuals who share information, images, or videos that could endanger security personnel, the armed forces, and public safety, taking legal action against them according to Jordanian laws and regulations.

Article 24 of the Cybercrimes Law stipulates that anyone who publishes the names or photos of law enforcement officials, or any potentially harmful or offensive information about them without prior authorization, faces a minimum of three months in prison and a fine between 5,000 and 25,000 Jordanian dinars.

In a recent development, the Public Security Directorate announced that investigations into the Marka al-Janoubi case led to the discovery of another site in the Abu Alanda area, where the same individuals were hiding explosives.

The Directorate stated that security forces cordoned off and isolated a commercial shop in the area on Monday morning, used for storing explosives.

Royal Engineering Corps bomb squads dealt with the site and detonated the stored explosives professionally, with no injuries or damages reported.

Security authorities urged the public to adhere to official information, cooperate with security personnel at the scene, and stay away from the site to allow authorities to handle the situation without interference.
