Microsoft Corp (NASDAQ:MSFT)’s artificial intelligence Security Copilot is unlikely to change the competitive landscape of the sector just yet, UBS analysts have said ahead of its April 1 launch.

According to the bank, the cybersecurity software does not yet look more capable than rivals, such as CrowdStrike’s Charlotte or SentinelOne’s PurpleAI.

This includes on metrics assessing accuracy and efficiency, the bank said in a note, with a US$4 per hour price tag likely being viewed with scepticism by targeted smaller companies.

“The compute-based pricing is intended to make Security Copilot more accessible to companies of all sizes by scaling pricing based on the number and complexity of queries,” UBS explained.

“However in our early assessment, it sounds like some customers view this pricing as opaque and unpredictable.”

That said, “Microsoft’s investment in OpenAI and customer base breadth make it hard to discount a potential generative AI advantage,” the bank continued, with initial hesitancy toward cybersecurity models likely to make way for increased adoption over coming years.

UBS forecast Microsoft’s revenue from security products to grow by 18% over 2024 as a result, slower than a predicted 20% growth in the fourth quarter of last year.
