FREMONT, Calif. (KRON) — A Fremont store security guard who was shot to death inside a CVS store was identified Wednesday. The Alameda County Sheriff’s Office identified the victim as Abakr Amin, 41, of Sacramento.

Around 11 p.m. on June 13, multiple people called 911 reporting a shooting inside a CVS store at the Fremont Hub shopping center, police said. Witnesses said the security guard was in a “verbal altercation” with someone before the clash turned violent, according to the Fremont Police Department.

Amin was shot, and another person was stabbed several times, FPD said. Amin died at the scene, while the stabbed man was rushed to a local trauma center.

So far, police have not released further details about what happened inside the store. It’s unclear if any arrests have been made.

On Wednesday police Sgt. Kim Macdonald told KRON4, “Due to the active and ongoing investigation we cannot provide any additional details.”
