(KRON) — A Fremont store security guard was slain while working on Thursday night, police said.
Multiple people called 911 reporting a shooting inside a CVS drug store at the Fremont Hub shopping center, according to reports. Witnesses said the security guard was in a “verbal altercation” with someone before the clash turned violent, according to the Fremont Police Department.
The security guard was shot, and the other person was stabbed several times, according to FPD.
“Officers quickly arrived on the scene and provided life-saving efforts, but the security guard was pronounced deceased. The other individual was transported to a local trauma hospital,” police wrote.
Police did not say whether shoplifting was involved in the homicide.
